***NOTICE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE***
Amy’s
Billiards at 1600 NW Federal Highway, Stuart, is pleased to
announce the acquisition of an official Gabriel’s 3-cushion billiard
table. This, heated, table is a match table from the 2008 Derby City
Classic Billiards Tournament recently held in Kentucky.
The
table, which is now available for play is, according to Amy Poulter,
“the only one of its caliber between Lake Worth and Orlando.” It
is already in high demand and true aficionados of the game are waiting
for the opportunity to play on it. Its most unusual feature, besides
the size (5’x10’) and color (blue), is that there are no pockets
and the game is only played with three balls. Additionally, the table
is heated, which helps to keep the moisture out of the cloth and aids
in the speed and roll of the balls. (See below)
Carom,
or 3-cushion, billiards is one of the original billiard games played
on a slate table covered with cloth and having rails but no pockets.
The purpose of the game, which is played with three heavier balls than
those found in standard “pool”, or “pocket billiards”, is to
make one cue ball strike a second cue ball and then hit three cushions
of the table before striking the third ball. If this is done
successfully one point is awarded. Three –cushion billiards is a
difficult game, and averaging just one point per inning is considered
professional level play. The degree of difficulty means that carom
players are truly serious billiard players and love the game.
For more information about Carom
or 3-Cushion Billiards, contact Amy at 772-232-9966 or visit her at
Amy’s Billiards any Tuesday through Sunday after 1:00 pm, or Mondays
after 5:00 pm. League play (for regular pool) is available as are
private lessons.
